Treetops Idyll

The thin air at 5000 feet is making us all sleepy. We slept in and had a quick breakfast, and headed to the Village. That's where we can access the lakeside path. We followed it eastward and found the Chalets' assigned dock. The 3 year drought here has lowered the lake level about 5 feet so all the property owners have had to add extensions to actually have their docks in the water.

Our dock is in a cove, and though its made to float, the entry is dry on the shoreline while the boat slips sit in 2 feet of water.

We continued around the shoreline path a ways, and got some nice views of the lake. There are beautiful lakeside homes you can't see from the roads.

We even saw a boat/car puttering along in the bay.
It looked just like this one- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAWRgZD8qY0 .

Amy also found out Lake Arrowhead is a man-made lake built in the 20's; hence the lack of public access.

Later we walked back to the Village and found out from the Chalet office how to get to the pool, game room and sauna, as well as how to use the two beaches on the Lake.

After lunch when the thunderstorms had passed we went to the game room and pool area. They have a ping pong table (Sam rules!),
pool table,

swimming pool,

and sauna.
Very nice, and we expect to come back to the pool in drier weather.

Dinner was at Hortencia's Mexican cafe, which was very good and reasonably priced. Sam got a giant plate of chicken enchiladas, which he loved.

A boy at the next table had on a Savannah Bee Company shirt.

They have a nice deck and entertainment on Saturday night.

Tomorrow is supposed to be rain free so we hope to find the lake beach and maybe go hiking or to the pool.

Please respond!

  1. I said in first comment (which maybe didn't go:): Lake sounds like Sacandaga (man-made), but it never dropped as much as Arrowhead. Dad.
